The Jefferson County Library Cooperative (JCLC) is the umbrella organization for the autonomous municipal libraries countywide. The nineteen member libraries, which includes the Birmingham Public Library System (Central Library and 20 branches), participate in the Jefferson County Library Cooperative.  There are 40 public library locations in the county. Each municipal library has its own policies, in addition to the JCLC policies.  Please check with the library you are using for more specific information.  Staff members of all libraries in Jefferson County, Alabama are eager to provide library and information services that meet your needs.
