WORD UP! 2016
Student Poetry Slam

WHAT:
A poetry slam for Jefferson County high school students (grades 9-12) sponsored by the Birmingham Public Library and Real Life Poets. Participants write and perform an original work inspired by the theme "SPEAK OUT". The participants in WORD UP! will be the winners from each school's contest. Each school is responsible for holding its own contest.
 
WHEN:
Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 3 p.m.
 
WHERE:
The Birmingham Public Library, Central, Arrington Auditorium, 2100 Park Place
HOW:
Tell your teacher or school librarian that you want to compete in WORD UP! The deadline for schools to sign on to participate is February 19, 2016.  For more information, call 205-226-3670 or email hm@bham.lib.al.us. Teachers and school librarians can sign up online.

Schools need to submit entry forms for their first, second, and third place winners by Friday, March 25, 2016. WORD UP! Entry Form
