Reference USA

Reference USA is a comprehensive business and residential database. This database provides listings of companies and people throughout the United States. The business component is useful for marketing and advertising research, identifying new business clients, or developing and finding businesses in particular geographic locations. The residential component will give patrons access to phone numbers and addresses across the country.

Here is how to access Reference USA:

1. Log on to www.jclc.org and click on the Databases under the Resources link
2. Choose the Reference USA database the list of databases
3. Enter your name as well as your JCLC library card number (the long number below the barcode on your library card.)
4. When you have entered your information, you will reach the Reference USA homepage, where you will select either the Business or Residential database.
   1. For the Business database, if you choose the quick search, you may enter the company name, city and state. If you do not know the exact name, or the exact city, enter part of the business name and the state. If you choose the custom search, you may choose criteria for your search such as the industry in which the business belongs, the area which you are searching in, or the business size (such as how many employees or the sales volume of the business). 
   2. For the Residential database, using the quick search feature allows you to find a person by their name, city and state. Using the custom search option allows you to search by name, address, phone number, zip code, area code, county, city, state, median home value, and median home income.
