Fifth Annual Alabama Book Festival

The
fifth annual Alabama Book Festival will be held in historic downtown
Montgomery at Old Alabama Town. The free public event is the state's
premier book festival – with more than 4,000 people
converging on the capital city to meet with and hear from their favorite authors. The family-friendly event promotes reading and literacy to Alabamians of all ages and
backgrounds.
The Last Page event of the statewide Big Read: Alabama Reads – The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain will be held at the festival. Join us for reading the last page of the book with celebrities and poetry contests winners.
Statewide Written Poetry Contest Winners Announced
To celebrate the first-ever statewide Big Read, Alabama's public libraries are sponsoring a poetry contest for middle school students. Statewide winners will be announced on April 17, 2010 at the Alabama Book Festival in Montgomery; 1st place winner will receive $100; 2nd place $75, and 3rd place $50.
