Hints for Searching by Author

If you want to find a book or books by a particular author, click Author at the Library Catalog, and the Author Search Screen will appear. Type the last name of the author, followed by a space or a comma, then type the first name. A list of authors matching or closely matching your entry will appear on the screen.

Helpful Hints

  1. If you do not know the full name of the author, you may type in the last name only.
  2. Use the backspace key to erase typographical errors.
  3. You may type in the name of government bodies or other organizations. The names of organizations must be typed in direct order (see examples below).
  4. You may type the name in upper- or lower-case letters.
  5. If you know both the author and the title, you might be able to find the book more quickly using an Author/Title search.
