New Way to Store Information on the PC

The public PCs used in most Jefferson County Public Libraries (check with your local library) will now allow the use of USB memory devices. These small devices plug into the USB port on the front of the public PCs. USB devices will allow storage of many times the capacity of a floppy drive; in some cases more than 500 times what can be stored on a single floppy. The device is very user friendly. Just plug it into an available USB port on the front of the PC and it will show up as a "removable device" when saving a file. If you have a question about how to use it, ask your local librarian for help. USB memory devices can now be purchased at office supply stores like Office Max and Office Depot, or on the Internet for as little as $10.00.
