October
16-22, 2005, is Teen Read Week. Sponsored by the
American Library Association, Teen Read Week is a way to
let teens know "the possibilities that exist within [the
library’s] doors, and within the covers of books." This
year’s theme centers on realistic fiction and everyday
issues that teens face at home, at school, with friends,
and within their families. Libraries around Jefferson
County will be offering special programs and incentives
during Teen Read Week, so be sure to check it out! If you
want a head start, try reading some of these Realistic
Fiction books – or ask your librarian for some
suggestions! |
