Interview With Andrew Glaze

Tell us a little bit about your background.

I was born in Nashville and raised in Birmingham where I worked ten years as a reporter for the Birmingham Post-Herald. I‘ve lived in both NYC and Miami, and last year I moved back to Birmingham.

Tell us about your work.  Where do you get your ideas?

I have published two novels, eleven plays, and nine books of poetry, three of which have been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.  I've published in many literary magazines, as well as the New Yorker and Atlantic. My best poetry is about people and takes a surrealistic view of life. I don't like confessional poetry, except for history and family.  My work is lyrically based, the music of words is where I live.

What are you currently working on?

I've just finished my 10th book, Carnal Blessings, and have two other books practically complete, called Sideways Tales.
