An Interview with Beverly Barton
Alabama Author
When did you start writing seriously and how did you break into the ranks of published novelist?
Taking the advice of a published Alabama romance writer, I joined Romance Writers of America. I worked tirelessly to perfect my writing skills.  In the end, it took a God-given talent for writing combined with skill, determination, and luck to make that first sale in 1989 to Silhouette Books.  In the past 14 years, I've written 50 books.

What is your current book about? What gave you this idea?
Grace Under Fire is the 17th book in my on-going series for Silhouette, The Protectors.  The idea came together one night while I was sitting around with three other writers.  I tossed out a few ideas of my own and each of the other writers added something.  Some ideas worked and others didn't.  But a few weeks later, I put together a skeleton plot and then wrote a synopsis.  Once approved by my editors, the truly hard work began--writing the book.

What are you currently working on?
I just completed what will become my 50th published novel, Downright Dangerous.  This is the 18th story in my series, and is scheduled for release in February 2004.
