In August 2003 the Birmingham Public Library will commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the year Birmingham won the Little League World Series. Photographs and memorabilia from the collection of Bruce Gordon, the archives of the Little League Museum, and the collection of Birmingham Public Library will be on display in the Central Library during the month. On August 6 Gordon and his pitching partner Joe Sims will speak at a noon program in the Linn-Henley auditorium about the extraordinary 1953 season that made them Little League champions.
