SeptemberFest at Springville Road Library
Birmingham Public Library Branch

SeptemberFest - September 21, Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
This annual event helps fund Springville Road Library’s children’s programs. SeptemberFest will feature a variety of crafts, wares and foods from individual vendors that are sure to appeal to folks of all ages. There will also be a bake sale stocked with homemade goodies. Booth spaces are still available for a $15.00 registration fee. If you would like to reserve a spot to sell your own products, please call (205) 226-4085.

An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears is full of suspense and political intrigue. Set in 17th century England, four characters take turns telling the story of the murder of an Oxford don and the subsequent investigation. If you want to discover a great mystery writer, check Pears out!

The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse by Louise Erdrich spans the 20th century in a story that centers on the figure of Father Damien Modeste, a priest on the Ojibwe reservation of Little No Horse. Erdrich's wonderfully realized characters and intriguing plot make this a real page-turner.

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson is the story of the author's mid-life crisis-inspired trip on the Appalachian Trail. Although his walking companion, an old school chum, shows up at his door grossly overweight and unprepared, the two nevertheless set off on an unbelievably hilarious journey across America.
