Out of the Night That Covers Me by Pat Cunningham Devoto
In the 1950s, John Gallatin McMillan III boards a train that will take him to a new life in the heart of the Alabama Black Belt. At the same time, America is moving toward the social upheaval of the civil rights movement. John fights for his survival and comes to identify with the plight of the poor blacks he comes into contact with.

Sins of the Brother and Dog Island by Mike Stewart
This series introduced us to Mobile based attorney named Tom McInnes. In Sins of the Brother, Tom investigates the murder of his younger brother. In Dog Island, Tom gets involved in a case revolving around a runaway teen girl and a former FSU/Dallas Cowboys football player.

Coming Home by Robert Inman
Inman’s subtitle is "Life, Love and All Things Southern." He writes of growing up in small-town Elba. He writes of his grandmother and his boyhood pal, "Booger" Winston, and other small-town characters. Wonderful warm story.
