Babies Are Born Learning…..Make Every Moment Count
A Special Project through Childcare Resources

Childcare Resources is pleased to announce the development of a video entitled The Incredible Technicolor Brain Machine. This presentation shows how new research in brain development has revealed that early experiences help to determine the way children learn, think, and behave for the rest of their lives. It also suggests how this information could be used by parents, grandparents, students, educators, and policy makers to improve the quality of life for our children.

Childcare Resources has donated a copy of this video to all public libraries of Jefferson County. It is their hope that, through this cooperative effort, they may spread the campaign message: Experiences in the first three years of life are critical in laying the foundation for future learning and successes.

  Arthur's Library Adventure Program
Many Jefferson County Libraries will celebrate Children’s Book Week, Nov. 13 - 19, with ARTHUR Library Adventure Programs. The libraries have teamed up with local Piggly Wiggly grocery stores and Libby’s Juicy Juice to offer exciting ARTHUR library programs and giveaways.
Kids twelve and under can enter the ARTHUR coloring contest by picking up an entry form at their local Piggly Wiggly grocery store. After completion, present the entry form to a participating Jefferson County Library. Entries will be judged from a random drawing and one grand prize winner will receive a set of Marc Brown ARTHUR books and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.

In addition, you can take ARTHUR home with you. Just collect 10 proofs of purchase from any Libby’s Juicy Juice product. Redeem them at a participating Jefferson County Library during Children's Book Week, Nov. 13 - 19 for a 7" ARTHUR plush doll (while supplies last).

Be sure to check your library's calendar of events for the date and time of special ARTHUR Library Adventure programs.
